Maintenance Worker

Job Specific Qualifications:

  • Have a working knowledge and the ability to properly maintain buildings, plumbing, appliances, wiring, and other skills necessary to properly keep the physical plant of CHL safe and functional.
  • Have the knowledge and basic skills to properly perform minor repairs for the company vehicles.
  • Have the necessary skills to properly up-grade, repair, paint, both interior and exterior walls and roofs of the buildings
  • This job requires working outdoors in extreme weather for extended periods of time
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas
  • Providing interior and exterior maintenance
  • Fulfilling routine work orders

General Qualifications for All Employees of The Children’s Home of Lubbock:

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Exhibit behavior and health status that does not present a danger to children in care.
  • Meet the requirements of licensing standards in regards to a criminal background check.
  • Have a record of tuberculosis screening showing the employee is free of contagious TB.
  • Be physically, mentally and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform assigned tasks.

House Parent in Training

Type: Full-Time, benefits eligible

Position Summary: With support from the treatment team, the House Parents in Training will serve as relief staff and will develop a nurturing structured environment to meet the physical, developmental and emotional needs of children in care.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent; computer knowledge in order to use case management specific software; ability to maintain a high level of energy to attend recreational activities, job training and academic opportunities; experience in child care related areas working with emotionally traumatized children is preferred but not required.

Direct Care Staff

Type: Full-Time

Position Purpose: Provide direct care and work with the treatment team to implement programs designed to meet the physical, developmental, and emotional needs of children (basic through specialized levels of care) in basic care.

Minimum Qualifications: At least two years of college or a high school diploma and at least one year of experience with emotionally troubled children. Be a minimum of 21 years of age. A driving record and a valid Texas ID which will allow them to be insured by CHOL auto insurance.

Emergency Shelter & Assessment Center Child Care Worker

Type: Full Time & Part Time

Position Purpose: Provide direct care and work with the assessment team to implement programs designed to meet the physical, developmental, and emotional needs of children.

  • Work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Working with children with therapeutic needs

Volunteer Engagement Coordinator/Recreation

Full time

POSITION PURPOSE:  Field volunteer contact and coordinate all aspects of the Children’s Home of Lubbock (CHL) group volunteer program including recruitment, training, placement and retention, recognition, tracking, and budgeting.

Develop and maintain internal and external partnerships. Support the CHL Development team in fundraising initiatives as needed.

  • Pursue or complete a bachelor’s degree in social services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Recreation staff in completing activities for children.
  • Work with Recreation Staff, Program Directors and Vice Presidents to establish yearly goals and objectives for the volunteer program.
  • Field volunteer calls, forward information to various persons working with individual volunteers and work with group volunteers and their activities on campus.
  • Establish policies, guidelines, job descriptions and requirements for volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain volunteer training manual and handbook and update as necessary.
  • Conduct interviews, orientations, assignments and evaluations of volunteers.
  • Plan and implement activities/presentations locally and in surrounding communities to promote and build awareness of the volunteer program such as volunteer fairs, churches etc.
  • Collaborate with all staff to establish and coordinate volunteer needs.
  • Work with schools, colleges and universities to coordinate both unpaid intern programs and community service work.
  • Prepare operational reports including volunteer monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Receive feedback from staff about observations of volunteer activities and follows through as appropriate.
  • Create and implement recognition and retention plans for the program.
  • Develop an annual volunteer plan/outreach program.
  • Develop and implement recruitment program to meet organization needs.
  • Maintain volunteer database including all contact information, projects, and hours contributed.
  • Maintain individual updated files and hand over background check info to HR on all volunteers.
  • Coordinate volunteer needs for special events in connection with the Development team.
  • Partner with other organizations and businesses for volunteer needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

House Mentor (Live-in Staff)

Full time

POSITION PURPOSE

To provide direct care and work with the treatment team to implement programs designed to meet the physical, developmental, and emotional needs of young adults who have aged out of Foster Care, specifically young women in the Supervised Independent Living program, with basic through specialized levels of care.

Performance Quality Improvement Coordinator

Full Time Position

This position will have the responsibility of conducting re-certification and reaccreditation activities for the Children’s Home of Lubbock as well as providing various trainings for the agency in these processes and trauma informed areas of expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS

Job Specific Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree or working toward a bachelors’ degree preferred.
• Knowledgeable in working with Sanctuary Concepts and Accreditation Activities.
• Capable of conducting training in Quality Improvement as well as other trainings involving trauma informed child care.
• Capable of helping lead teams of CHL employees toward Quality Improvement activities and the recertification and reaccreditation processes.
